Description
Dog Breed: Great Dane. LOCATION: Cumming, GA DOB: 10/07/2020 Meet Zeb, a big, black Great Dane with a gentle soul and a quietly charming way about him. Zeb is a happy, affectionate guy who enjoys the simple things in life: tasty treats, squeaky toys, and a nice walk around the property. He’s content with moderate activity and doesn’t need constant stimulation—one good walk and some time to explore, and he’s ready to relax for the rest of the day. While a fenced yard is helpful, he’s not the type who needs acres to roam; a reasonably sized yard and regular walks suit him just fine. One of Zeb’s most endearing habits is how he connects with his people. When he wants attention, he’ll look straight at you and gently lift his paw, as if asking to hold hands. He enjoys being near his humans and soaking up companionship, even if he’s not demanding constant interaction. Zeb travels well in the car, walks nicely on leash most of the time, and is generally calm and easy to live with. Zeb does well with other dogs and has been living with two older female Great Danes, adjusting to them with supervision. On walks, he’s interested in other dogs but not reactive. He can pull on leash when he spots animals like cats, chickens, horses, or wildlife, as his curiosity and prey drive kick in. Because of this, Zeb would be happiest in a home without cats or farm animals. He has met a toddler and showed little interest beyond a polite sniff, and he’s been friendly and appropriate with adults, warming up quickly once he knows he’s safe. He’s still a work in progress with housetraining and may have occasional accidents indoors. Crate training is also something he’s still learning—he’ll go into a crate but doesn’t settle comfortably yet and may bark or scratch to get out. With patience and consistency, he has the potential to continue improving in these areas. Medically, Zeb has a past injury to his hind legs, but he gets around well and has adapted nicely. Joint supplements will be helpful for him, especially as he ages. He has begun heartworm treatment and may need follow-up care in the coming months. Zeb’s ideal home is a calm, animal-light environment with people who are around enough to enjoy his company. He’d be perfectly happy as an only dog or possibly with a laid-back canine companion. He’s not complicated, doesn’t need a busy schedule, and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a big, affectionate dog who just wants to be part of everyday life. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . Overview:
The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
