Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Douglas is an older pup who loves all people and other chill dogs like himself. He lives in a foster home with cats and enjoys their company as well! D's foster family say he is the biggest cuddle buddy and wants to be right next to you on the couch. He also loves to be spooned while he sleeps. In these cold winter months, what sounds better than snuggling up with your best friend?! Douglas loves car rides, is house-trained even letting you know when he needs to go outside. He doesn't 'love' being crated but his foster fam leaves him out while they are out of the house and he just sleeps on the couch! He is a funny guy that also occasionally lets out one single silly howl. Dogs over 40 pounds are always FREE. Adoptions include spay/neuter, up-to-date shots, one free training session with Micky's House, one month free membership PG&J's Dog Park, and more! CHAMPION dogs come with extra perks! Core vaccines for 3 years, Lifetime Jefferson County pet license, freedom harness with leash, bag of starter food, six months of heartworm preventative, and crate upon request! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
