Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Location: Branford, CT AVAILABLE Debbie Sweet, smart, and spicy, beautiful Debbie is looking for her forever home! She's a 4 1/2 month old, loves her people and is a very affectionate girl. She loves to play and fetch. She would love another playful dog in her forever home and maybe a kitty cat or two. Debbie is crate trained and sleeps through the night in a crate next to my bed. She’s house trained if kept on a schedule, and sits for all her meals,and takes treats gently. And, she loves car rides and adventures. Debbie is a very nice pup, walks well on a leash and loves to be outside, so a physically fenced-in yard would be preferable. Debbie is a very active and busy girl who will put almost everything she can find in her mouth and so supervision is needed for this cutie! She does settle nicely with a bone or chew toy after she's gotten out her zoomies! Debbie will need continued training to grow into the best dog she can possibly be. That means puppy training classes and continued socialization, with only positive methods used. Debbie is fostered in Branford CT so keep that in mind for meet and greets. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
