Description
Dog Breed: Rat Terrier (medium coat). Meet Midnight - tiny body, huge personality! She is an absolutely adorable little Chihuahua with a bouncy, bubbly spirit and a heart full of love. She's great on a leash, takes treats gently from your hand, and already knows how to sit on command for a treat. She loves being doted on, and appreciates all the attention she can get. Midnight has a higher energy level. She got along great with cats, kids, and other dogs in a previous foster home, and seems open to making friends with everyone she possibly can. Midnight is currently under treatment for atopic dermatitis, a chronic but non-contagious skin condition that can cause itchiness and dry skin. It doesnât slow her down one bit or take away from her gorgeousness - if anything, it just gives her even more reason to rock a cute sweater. If youâre looking for a lively, affectionate little shadow who will keep you smiling, Midnight might be your perfect match.

Overview:
The Rat Terrier is a lively and intelligent American breed, originally developed in the early 20th century from a mix of Fox Terriers, Old English White Terriers, and other small terriers, primarily for farm work and pest control. These compact yet sturdy dogs typically weigh between 10-25 pounds and stand 10-18 inches tall, boasting a short, smooth coat that comes in a variety of patterns, often with large patches of color over white. Known for their energetic and inquisitive nature, Rat Terriers are remarkably adaptable and affectionate, making them excellent companions for active individuals or families. While their boundless energy necessitates regular exercise and mental stimulation, they can thrive in apartments provided their needs are met. Generally a healthy breed, they have a lifespan of 12-18 years, though some may be prone to patellar luxation or Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. Their friendly disposition and eagerness to please make them highly trainable and a joy to live with.
