Description
Dog Breed: Flat-coated Retriever. Mama Holly is a gorgeous, full-grown 48 lb Flat Coated Retriever mix, about 2 years old, who was heartbreakingly left at the shelter with her adorable litter of 12 puppies . Holly has been an incredible mama. She and her babies have been thriving in foster care, soaking up love, learning what it means to feel safe, and getting ready for their next chapter. They’re growing quickly and will soon be ready to become cherished members of loving families just in time for the holidays and the new year. Mama Holly is gentle, affectionate, and resilient, the kind of dog who will make an amazing family companion. She is currently in a foster home with other dogs and cats! She will be spayed before finalization of adoption.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
