Dog Breed: Beagle / Hound / Mixed. Meet Cookie! Cookie first came to our rescue four years ago as Gretel, but her adopter renamed her Cookie and she’s happily answered to it ever since, so we’re sticking with the sweeter name! Sadly, she was returned after one of her owners passed away. The remaining owner felt she had really been “his” dog and chose not to keep her. At around 4–5 years old, this sweet hound mix is now looking for her true forever home. When she first returned, Cookie was carrying a little extra weight at 65 pounds. With proper diet and exercise, she’s since slimmed down beautifully to 52 pounds and looks fantastic! She’s energetic and loves to run, so a home with a decent-sized yard (or access to regular walks/runs) would be ideal for this happy hound. Cookie is a gentle, affectionate girl who gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She enjoys playing with her furry friends and loves her toys. While her prey drive is mild, she does have one—so caution is recommended around small dogs or cats. She’s very responsive and easily corrected, making her a joy to have around. This sweet, playful girl is ready to give and receive all the love in the world. Could you be the one to give Cookie the forever home she deserves? Adoption fee is 200 which helps cover all of the medical for all of the dogs in the rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and many have received further treatment for such conditions as lump removal, severe ear infections, dental cleanings, bloodwork, leg injuries, etc.. We do out of state adoptions but require a submitted application, a home visit (sometimes we cannot get this done and then we can not adopt), and the adopter must come to Las Vegas to meet the potential dog(s), possibly adopt, and then drive the dog back. Beagles can have a lifespan of 15-18 years. Therefore, beagles or any other breed who are under 3 years of age will NOT be adopted to anyone over the age of 62. All our dogs are in foster homes so not all are available to attend all our park meetups. Our meetup group playdates allow you to socialize your beagle with his/her own breed at dog parks with large fenced areas where the beagles can run and play off-leash.
