Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Hi, I’m Scrapple! I’m a 2-year-old, 55-pound, terrier mix with tan and white fur, though I really should be closer to 35 pounds. I’ve been carrying some extra weight from past neglect. I’m also deaf, but don’t worry…I can still tell when it’s treat time! I was recently surrendered after my owner passed away. I was previously living in a home with a 9 and 16-year-old, so I’m great with kids. I’ll admit that I’m a little bit afraid of the rain. Seriously, what girl likes to get her hair wet in public? I prefer puddle-free paws! Baths and grooming? Totally fine. Now cars? They are the worst! Being in one isn't my beef (yummm beef!). It's seeing all the other ones through the window. Where are they all going?!?! I have to tell them to back off - I definitely make it known that I'm not a fan. Because of my extra weight, I have some joint issues. It's a bummer but I'm hoping that once I slim down, I will feel better. I’m friendly, affectionate, and love company — all I need is some exercise, patience, and lots of belly rubs. If you want a loyal, loving, slightly rain and car-averse companion, I’m your girl!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
