Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Age: approx 4 years old Weight: 25 lbs My adoption fee is $475 which includes transportation charges to the Northeast. Bunkie has arrived in Rhode Island and we are thrilled! This lovely fella is around 4 years old, so all that puppy business is behind him. He is 23 pounds, a great size! Bunkie is super sweet natured, gentle and kind, plus he has some great skills that include leash and crate training. He is doing well with other dogs in his foster home and has passed his first cat test. He rides well in the car and would love to run some errands with you! Bunkie lived with all ages of kids in Louisiana, so we can add that to his resume! His house training appears to be in order (no accidents, waits to go outside). Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
