Foster Home Feedback 1/9/26 Building Volunteer Feedback: Beautiful Anthony “Toni” Edwards is indeed a female, five year old, 52 pound hound mix and it is breaking my heart that she is still waiting at the shelter for a foster. I have been taking her on outings most days to expose her to new things and give her a break away from the shelter. These are all the things I’ve learned about her and why I’ve fallen hard for her: Relaxed and quiet passenger in a vehicle and waits calmly if you step away from it. Toni loves to please and her warm brown eyes lock onto mine showing utter devotion and affection. Completely potty trained. Knows many commands like come, sit, down and stay Walks nicely loose leash…and a couple of days ago I asked her to heel and she did that too! Toni likes everybody she meets, is a great cuddler and has no stranger danger. We recently went to Runnings and she was perfect meeting staff there and so gentle when taking treats. She even walked right by the dog bones and didn’t even try to sniff them. She is very playful. I often bring her to my fenced backyard and she almost dances with glee as she runs after toys and balls. She seems to have a gentle mouth and doesn’t try to destroy stuffies. Stay tuned for more updates as Toni and I have more fun together. If you’re looking to adopt a canine companion I hope you apply for her…and if you’ve ever thought about fostering and helping a homeless dog find their forever home… Anthony “Toni” Edwards would love to meet you too! 12/20/2025 Building Volunteer Feedback: This friendly pup is such a sweet companion! Anthony Edwards enjoys socializing with people and loves taking walks. Her affectionate nature and love for exploration make her a great addition to any household looking for a loyal friend! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
