Description
Dog Breed: Cocker Spaniel. Shiloh is looking for a forever home or a foster home! She is 12 years old and weighs 30 pounds. Shiloh is a beautiful deep chocolate and white cocker spaniel who was surrendered by her owner after being unable to keep her. Shiloh has excellent leash and car manners. Shiloh loves everyone and greets them with a wagging tail. She is house trained and loves being with her people. Shiloh was raised with children and the prior owner said she was great with kids 8 years and above. Although Shiloh can be around other pups at the vet's office, walks, pet stores, her ideal forever home is as your one and only with no other pups in the home. She is located in Alexandria, VA. If you can open your home to Shiloh, please email us at adoptmecockerspanielrescue. She is ready to start the rest of her life now!

Overview:
The Cocker Spaniel, a beloved breed with roots in the United Kingdom, was originally bred as a gundog to flush out woodcock. They are instantly recognizable by their medium size, typically weighing 20-30 pounds, their luxurious, often wavy coat (which comes in a variety of colors), and their long, expressive ears that frame their gentle, eager-to-please eyes. Known for their merry and affectionate temperament, Cockers are generally good-natured, intelligent, and relatively easy to train, making them an excellent choice for families with children and even first-time dog owners. While adaptable, their moderate exercise needs can be met with daily walks and playtime, making them suitable for apartment living as long as they receive sufficient mental and physical stimulation. Prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including ear infections (due to their long ears), eye conditions like cataracts, and hip dysplasia, which highlight the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
