Description
Dog Breed: Pug / Boston Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 600. Hi there! I’m Gambit. I’m a young, likely pug/Boston terrier mix with a BIG personality packed into a compact body. I love humans of all ages and dogs of all sizes, and I’m so happy to be living the good life indoors that I sometimes express my joy… enthusiastically. (Okay, yes, I might jump up when we first meet. I just get excited! Smaller kiddos may want to brace themselves.) I’m still working on my potty training, so I’ll need a patient human who believes in routines, consistency, and cheering me on when I get it right. I want to please you—I just need a little guidance to become my best self. I’m really not a fan of crates and have a lot to say about it when I’m put into one. Because of this, I’m probably not the best match for shared-wall living. The good news? I’m a champion bed sleeper and snooze peacefully through the night right next to you (or directly on top of you—details negotiable). I adore toys, get silly when I’m excited, and love being near my people at all times. Lap? Yes. Couch buddy? Absolutely. Following you from room to room like a shadow with wrinkles? That’s me. I’d thrive with: An active family who can help burn my energy A furry playmate to wrestle and romp with A home that appreciates goofy, affectionate dogs with opinions If you’re looking for a hilarious, loving, slightly dramatic pup who will reward you with nonstop affection and loyalty, I might just be your guy! Gambit is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 1/24/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.* If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.

Breed overview
Overview:
The delightful Buggs, a charming cross between the Boston Terrier and the Pug, originated from the desire to blend the best qualities of both parent breeds. These small to medium-sized companions typically inherit a sturdy, compact build, often sporting a short, sleek coat in a variety of colors including black, brindle, or fawn, sometimes with distinctive white markings. Their expressive faces, often featuring a slight underbite and prominent eyes, are undeniably endearing. Temperamentally, Buggs are known for being affectionate, playful, and generally good-natured, making them excellent family pets and well-suited for apartment living due to their moderate exercise needs. They thrive on companionship and can be prone to separation anxiety if left alone for extended periods. While generally robust, potential health considerations include respiratory issues common to brachycephalic breeds, as well as joint problems like patellar luxation, so regular veterinary check-ups are essential for a long and healthy life.
