Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Hello! Iâm Freya! Iâm a sweet, funny girl with a loving heart. I can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once I feel safe, I warm up and enjoy cuddles and companionship. Iâd do best in a calm, quiet home without young children or cats, where I can settle in at my own pace.I love going for walks, riding in the car (I like to sit up front and watch the world go by), and relaxing with my favorite stuffies or peanut-butterâfilled bones. I know how to sit and was learning more commands, and while Iâm still working on my leash skills, Iâm eager to learn with a patient adopter. Iâm mostly house trained, lived indoors, and enjoyed having a securely fenced yard. I may chew or get into the trash if given the chance, but with guidance and enrichment, I do well. Iâve lived with older teens and did great, but a home without young kids would be best for me.I may enjoy living with another dog and would love an in-shelter meet and greet to make sure weâre a good match. If youâre looking for a gentle, affectionate companion who just needs a little time to feel safe, Iâd love to meet you!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
