Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Cattle Dog / Mixed. Meet darling Polly! Polly is a 28-lb sweetheart with the gentlest soul. She is calm, affectionate, and a little shy at first—but once she warms up, her loving personality truly shines through. Polly adores meeting new people and enjoys spending time with her foster “sisters.” One of her most charming traits? Her cutest little voice—she’ll happily tell you how excited she is to see you! Polly is still learning her leash skills. She is kennel trained and almost fully potty trained, with only occasional accidents. She’s highly motivated by love and treats, making her a joy to continue training with. She loves the company of kids and other dogs and is a joy to have around. Polly would thrive in an active home that enjoys walks, hikes, and including their dog in daily adventures. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal companion to grow with your family, Polly just might be the perfect match! Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
