Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Currently located at our Chrisney, IN location Meet Venus Venus is a sweet 2 girl who spent 9 months on the run before we were finally able to bring her into our care. She’s 2 years old and, for much of her life, never allowed anyone to get very close to her. Now that she feels safer, Venus has discovered how wonderful affection can be—she craves love and truly enjoys being petted. The busy rescue environment is overwhelming for Venus, especially with all the noise and dogs barking. She’s a sensitive soul who would thrive in a quiet, calm home where she can be the only pet, relax, and continue coming out of her shell at her own pace. She hasn’t shown much comfort around dogs approaching her, so a peaceful, dog-free setting would be ideal. Venus is a gentle, loving girl who just needs patience, understanding, and a calm place to feel safe. In the right home, she’s sure to blossom even more. If interested, fill out application at ITVrescue. All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated, if necessary.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
