Description

Dog Breed: Great Pyrenees (medium coat). Meet Snowy Snowy is a people-loving girl who truly enjoys human companionship. She loves car rides and travels well with people, making her a great adventure or errand buddy. Snowy has no resource guarding issues with humans and is very good with people overall. She has no fear of loud noises and settles well around everyday activity. Important Notes About Snowy’s Needs: Not cat-friendly – Snowy has not been exposed to cats or chickens, but she will chase squirrels and small animals. Previous owner does not believe she would be safe with cats. Not livestock-safe – Snowy has attacked goats on a few occasions and did break skin. She had no prior training or proper exposure to goats and was typically separated using an e-fence. Because of this, she should not be placed in a home with livestock. Dog selective – Snowy has shown food aggression toward her brother. AO is unsure if she could live with another large dog, though it may be possible with very slow, structured introductions and completely separate feedings. A single-dog home would be ideal. Secure fencing required – Snowy has been e-fence trained (no collar) and has lived behind hard fencing approximately 6 ft tall with an added barbed wire layer reaching 8 ft. She has never escaped or attempted to escape. Additional Info: •Facial scarring is from strangles as a puppy •Raised inside/outside with her litter before AO acquired her as a larger puppy •Enjoys companionship more than play Ideal Home for Snowy: Snowy would do best in a home where she can be an only pet, live indoors, and enjoy consistent human companionship. A secure yard is a must, and she should not be placed with cats, small animals, or livestock. She would thrive with adopters who understand management, boundaries, and appreciate a calm, people-oriented dog. Snowy is a loyal, steady companion who just needs the right environment to shine. ??

Great Pyrenees

A.K.A.: Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Patou, Chien de Montagne des Pyrénées, Pyrenean, Big White Dog, Bear Dog, Gentle Giant, Great Pyr, Pyr
Overview:

The Great Pyrenees is a majestic and ancient breed, originating in the Pyrenean mountains between France and Spain, where they served as formidable livestock guardians. Physically, they are large, powerful dogs, easily recognized by their thick, double coat, typically white (though sometimes marked with badger, grey, or tan), and a distinctive "double dewclaw" on their hind legs. Despite their imposing size, their temperament is generally calm, gentle, and remarkably patient, making them excellent companions. They possess a natural protectiveness, which translates to a watchful eye over their families and property. While loving and tolerant with children, their size and barking tendencies make them less suited for small apartment living; a home with a yard is ideal. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, patellar luxation, and certain eye conditions, emphasizing the importance of responsible breeding. Their independent nature also means they require consistent, positive reinforcement training.
