Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). This is Giggles, sadly his elderly owner was no longer able to care for him. You have obviously noticed Giggles nose. This is a very old injury and his nose has looked like this for years now. Giggles is being cared for by one of our volunteers in her home. This is what his foster mom has to say about him: " Hi! I’m Giggles. I bring smiles to hoomans. I LOVE to play toss with my favorite toys. I am so smart. I bring my toy to a hooman, look at them with my wishful eyes, and they can’t help but toss it. I bring it right back and drop it in the hooman’s lap. I do this over and over again. I make my hoomans SMILE and LAUGH. I am a gentleman. I don’t beg. I wait for my meals to be placed in front of me. I wait quietly for my harness, leash, and winter coat to be put on and taken off. I walk quietly on leash and love to smell the roses, and the rocks, and the pinecones, and the trees, and everything. My favorite thing after playing toss is, hanging out with my hoomans. I like to be with them, but I am not clingy. I am a simple guy. I’m really happy and I wag my tail a lot. I’m a “ready-made” doggo because I am housebroken, crate trained, and I sleep through the night next to my hoomans in my own crate. If you are looking for a devoted companion who’s sure to make you smile every day, I’m your guy!" If you would like to come meet Giggles, be sure to call the office ahead of time to make an appointment. This little guy won't last long, so call today! All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered (if they are old enough) before they leave the shelter. If the dog is not old enough, you will be given a voucher for Animal Medical Center in Emmett to cover the cost of the spay or neuter. Please fill out an application if you are interested in this dog or call us today for more information Because we are an all-volunteer organization, please call ahead to schedule a time for a Meet & Greet so we can ensure a dog handler is available to show you the dog or dogs you are interested in. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
