Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). * My adoption fee will be waived Feb 13-15 * The God of mischief himself- Loki! Except this squishy faced cutie isn’:t all that mischevious. He is a strong gentle giant that enjoys meeting new people and going on walks. While he means well, his strength can sometimes cause a bit of mischeif- perhaps pulling on leahs while excited or jumping up to greet new friends! With some proper training using positive reinforcement, we can turn this sweet boy into the perfect gentleman. He’:s dreaming of a nice quiet oasis to call his home. Unfortunately for this boy, he does have some ongoiong skin issues that will require some support from a veterinarian. That doesn’:t take away from his good looks though- look at that face! Loki would prefer a home and a lifestyle that does not involve other dogs- he wants to be the one and only! If you think this guy could be a match for you, please come meet him!

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
