Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Meet the sweet and sensitive Spot. This girl has had a pretty rough past, but she's ready to start fresh. Spot came from an unsafe and unsanitary enviornment where she never got to practice being a `real dog.` This means that everything outside of her previous living environment is new(and therefore, frightening) to her. She is looking for a safe place to land where she can slowly come out of her shell at her own pace- without any expectations. She would benefit from a very quiet, predictable environment where no social pressure could be put on her. Here at the shelter, we have found that reuniting red with her best friend, Red, has made an immense difference for her. These two sisters being together has been mutually benefiical, and helps them build confidence! They love to go on walks together and wrestle in the yard. If your home is big enough to help two worried ladies find a safe place to land, these girls would love to stay together. They are able to make more progress moving thorugh the world as a pair!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
