Birthdate: 08/01/2024 Breed: One of a kind Meet Sunny Sunny is a perfect combination of sweet, affectionate, and playful. She loves to cuddle up with her favorite people. You will often find her curled up in a ball in her favorite spot. She also enjoys playing outside and sunbathing. Sunny enjoys running around outside and playing but also likes her chill downtime. Sunny is house broken and crate trained. She is still working on mastering commands. Sunny is very outgoing and jumps for joy. If you are ready to meet her, Sunny will come up to you and give you her paw. If you have any questions, please email us at adoptionspawscrossedny for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold pets for any reason. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
