Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Slinky is a gentle soul who came to us after being rescued from a hoarding situation. Despite his difficult past, he has a sweet, tender heart and a deep appreciation for kindness and calm companionship. He truly enjoys spending time with his humans and is happiest when he feels safe and included. Slinky is just beginning to learn how fun toys and playtime can be, and it’s a joy to watch his confidence grow as he discovers new things at his own pace. Because of his background, Slinky may do best as an only dog, where he can soak up all the attention and move through life without feeling overwhelmed. He would thrive with an experienced dog owner who understands patience, gentle guidance, and the beauty of helping a dog continue to blossom. Slinky is looking for a peaceful home and a loving person willing to let him be exactly who he is—soft, loyal, and incredibly special. Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
