Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Name: Blondie Sex: Female Estimated Age: About 1-2 years old Best Guess for Breed: Terrier Mix Weight: About 40 lbs Lives With: Dogs, cats and people! Housebroken? She’s crate and potty trained! Story: Blondie comes to us from a shelter in South Carolina where she lived for over a year. We are so happy to have her safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Blondie is a shy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. While she’s still settling in now, soon enough she’ll know how to get comfortable up on the couch with her humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Blondie is just looking for someone to be her new best furend and we know that she will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Blondie will need an adopter who is committed to setting her up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising her both mentally and physically. She will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! The fee to adopt Blondie is $475. That covers the cost of all her vaccines, her spay, the collar she’s wearing, her transport to DC and her care in her foster home. She’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. If you think that Blondie might be your perfect match, apply today!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
