Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). SWEETEST CHIHUAHUA YOU COULD MEET! This adorable, special pup is “Ducky”, a very loving 3-5 year old, 7 pound Chihuahua who came to us as a stray. He is just about the sweetest little Chihuahua you could ever meet! Ducky is social, friendly, and very loving. He is moderately active and enjoys being with people and dogs. He isn’t too involved with toys (yet?). Ducky will curl up next to you on the couch or in his bed throughout the day. He prefers sleeping in bed with his foster mom, especially under the covers. Ducky does not require crating - he has very good manners. Upon rescue it became evident that his one back leg was seriously injured. X-rays revealed a very bad fracture which required immediate surgery; sadly, Ducky’s leg could not be saved but he has recovered beautifully. Ducky is now enjoying life fully including running around, playing with the other small dogs. Ducky has been great with meeting new people and is comfortable around a variety of dogs and sizes. He would do best in a home with another small dog with whom he can buddy and play. We are also seeking an adoptive household with people home more than not, and without too many stairs. This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, provided vaccines, tested for diseases, dewormed, neutered, and microchipped. Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
