Description
Dog Breed: Boxer. 01/12/2026 Opie III is an owner surrender looking for a new home. Hi! My name is Opie III! I am a handsome 9 year old sealed brindle boy that is an owner surrender due to changes in my family's dynamics and I need to find a forever home. I am described as shy, active, protective, playful, and affectionate! It is said that I do have pain in my hips and possible arthritis and have doggy stairs that I refuse to use. Recently I have gotten to where I do not get along with the dogs in the home so for everyone's safety, I need to be the only dog in the home. I have never lived with a cat so it is uncertain if I am feline friendly. I currently live with two kids (ages 16 and 17 years) and am fine with them! I am house trained, crate trained, and at night I sleep at the bottom of the bed. I have separation anxiety and will get into things I shouldn't and be destructive if not crated when the humans are away. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig. I am scared of loud noises and do not like being picked up. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, balls, and playing chase! If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
