Description
Dog Breed: Shih Tzu. Sir Tashi - 3 yr old Shih Tzu gentleman looking for his person 💙 Sir Tashi is a 15-lb Shih Tzu, approximately 3 years old, with a big heart and a sweet, affectionate personality. This adorable little guy loves being close to his people whether that's going for a walk, playing with toys, or curling up next to you for cuddles. Sir Tashi has been doing wonderfully in foster care and is learning what it means to be a cherished indoor companion. About Sir Tashi 15 pounds About 3 years old Friendly, affectionate personality Loves toys and playtime Very cuddly and people-oriented Gets along well with other friendly dogs Sir Tashi is crate trained and sleeps quietly in his crate overnight. He is doing well with potty training and happily follows the other dogs through the dog door. He also walks nicely on leash, making him a wonderful companion for neighborhood strolls, patio lunches, or coffee outings. When meeting new people, Sir Tashi is polite and gentle. He enjoys accepting treats and soft pets from strangers and will exchange polite sniffs with other dogs, although he may be a little reserved at first. Sir Tashi also has an adorable mischievous streak he loves to "borrow" socks, shoes, or small items around the house and proudly parade around with them. He doesn't chew them... he simply thinks they're toys! Like many Shih Tzus, Sir Tashi can be a little stubborn, but he responds very well to patience, routine, and positive reinforcement. He is still learning some household manners and will need adopters who are willing to continue reinforcing potty habits and structure as he settles into his forever home. Sir Tashi bonds deeply with his people and can feel anxious when left alone. Because of this, he would do best in a home where someone is around much of the time such as a work-from-home household, retirees, or a home with another calm dog. 💔 Sir Tashi came into rescue with his Shih Tzu brother, Mister Tenzi, after the boys were previously kept outdoors and somewhat neglected. They are now learning the joys of indoor life and the comfort of being part of a family. Sir Tashi can absolutely thrive on his own, but adopters interested in both boys will receive a package adoption discount. Adoption Requirements Another friendly dog in the home is ideal Gentle, respectful children age 10+ Temperature-controlled indoor home (Shih Tzus are prone to overheating) Short walks rather than strenuous exercise Professional grooming every ~6 weeks (this breed requires regular coat care) Sir Tashi is a loving, loyal little companion who will bring joy, laughter, and plenty of snuggles to the lucky family who welcomes him home. A detailed adoption application is required. Only applications that clearly meet the criteria and provide meaningful information will be considered. At K9 Paw Print Rescue, we believe every dog is a precious soul deserving of a home that truly fits them. Apply to adopt: .K9ppr

Overview:
The Shih Tzu, affectionately known as the "lion dog," boasts an ancient and regal lineage, originating from the Tibetan plateau and further refined in imperial China. These charming canines are easily recognized by their striking appearance: a small, sturdy build, a distinctive undershot jaw, and a long, flowing double coat that often requires regular grooming to prevent matting. Temperamentally, Shih Tzus are renowned for being affectionate, outgoing, and playful companions, making them wonderfully suitable for a variety of households. Their adaptable and generally good-natured disposition means they often thrive in families with children and are particularly well-suited for apartment living due to their modest exercise requirements. While generally robust, potential owners should be aware of common breed-specific health concerns, including respiratory issues (due to their brachycephalic, or "smushed" face), eye conditions, and luxating patella. Despite these considerations, a Shih Tzu typically brings immense joy and companionship to their devoted owners.
