Description
Dog Breed: Basset Hound / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). The Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center has a large number of animals just waiting for adoption. And we receive new "adoptees" every day, so add our website to your "favorites" list and visit us often. .talgov/animals Hi, Iâm Quan, a short guy with a big personality weighing in at 44 pounds, and Iâm a loving, playful boy who absolutely adores people. Iâm very social, great with other dogs, and I love playing with my dog friends just as much as I love getting belly rubs and soaking up attention from humans. The shelter has been tough for me because I donât enjoy being kenneled and I feel cooped up, so Iâm really hoping to find my forever family soon where I can stretch out, relax, and be my happy self. Iâm a good boy with a lot of love to give and canât wait to get out of the shelter and into a home where I truly belong.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Bassetdor, a delightful cross between the Basset Hound and the Labrador Retriever, is a relatively new designer breed gaining popularity for its unique blend of traits. Originating from the desire to combine the Basset's laid-back nature with the Lab's trainability and friendliness, this medium-sized dog typically inherits the Basset's characteristic long ears and short legs, often paired with the Lab's athletic build and expressive eyes. Their coat can vary in color and texture, often reflecting the common hues of both parent breeds. Temperamentally, Bassetdors are known for being affectionate, loyal, and generally good-natured, making them excellent family pets. While adaptable, their moderate energy levels mean they thrive with regular exercise and may not be ideally suited for very small apartments without sufficient outdoor activity. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns inherited from both sides, such as hip and elbow dysplasia from the Labrador and disc issues or ear infections common to the Basset Hound.
