Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Kurt is an older puppy, we have had him for three month . He has leash reactivity and overstimulation issues that we have been trying to work through with him, however, the small size of our house and our existing two dogs are not setting him up for success. He has lashed out at our male dog when we weren’t home at the beginning, thinking this was because both are reactive at our front door to any activity - it was a minor ear scratch or nip but we have crated him when we are gone since then. He has become tight with me but growls still when my teenage son and wife enter the door or room. After a recent delivery where he was overstimulated, he lunged at my wife and tried to bite her (did not break clothes/skin). Kurt is wary of people but once he gets comfortable the true puppy comes out and he loves the company. Unfortunately, we do not feel that can succeed here but he needs a chance with the right home - we have him vetted, have all items for him and ready to support his move. **** Breed: Mixed **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2192805&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
