Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Caramel is a sweet boy who’s learning how wonderful it is to be loved. He may take a moment to warm up, but once he knows he’s safe, he becomes the most devoted little shadow, happily following you from room to room and curling up in your lap whenever he gets the chance. He is doing well with crate training, settling in nicely once he feels comfortable. He loves to play with his toys, and enjoys walks. He’s a great hiker, and has also enjoyed city outings to breweries. Caramel has lived peacefully with both dogs and cats in the past, but is happy as a single dog as well. Caramel is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and started on monthly flea/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at petsmpravl for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
