Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Darcy is a 3-month-old, 23-lb “31 flavors” mixed-breed puppy with a gorgeous brindle coat and the sweetest, most soulful eyes. Her mom is a petite 31-lb feist mix, and while dad is a mystery, Darcy is predicted to grow to the lower side of large. Her charm is unmistakable. A little shy at first, Darcy quickly blossoms once she feels safe. She absolutely lights up around her human foster siblings (ages 6 and 9) and takes great comfort learning from her furry foster siblings, too. Watching her confidence grow has been a joy! Like any puppy her age, Darcy is still working on typical house and crate training and will thrive with consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement. While she hasn’t lived with cats, she could likely coexist with proper, slow introductions. If you’re looking for a soft-hearted puppy who’s ready to grow into a loyal best friend, Darcy may be the one. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and will be available for adoption starting 1/18 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL# 16182.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
