Name: Rusty Best Guess for Breed: Beagle mix Best Guess for Age: 7 years, 11 months as of February 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 40 lbs as of January 2025; needs to lose a bit Gets Along With: He gets along well with other dogs! His previous human says he has enjoyed meeting children and loved getting attention from them, but he has not lived with them. He also has not tried to chase cats and ignores them; however, he has not lived with them either that we know of. We can discuss with you how to add a dog to your pack if you have cats! Currently Living at: DC area foster All about Rusty: Rusty arrived into our care in August 2022, at approximately four and a half years of age. He had lived his entire life in a facility that breeds dogs for laboratories; he was one of the Envigo beagles. And he was adopted out quickly! Through no fault of anyone at all, he now needs a new home. His previous human loved him very much and says he is an amazing dog. He loves attention from humans of all ages, with a special preference for belly rubs. This means everyone from the humans in his home to strangers he meets on the street. He is calm in the home and very well mannered. He doesn't chew on anything he isn't supposed to, hasn't had accidents and will pace near the door to communicate that he needs to go potty, and is just a chill, loving little guy. He had so much time to make up for when he got out of the Envigo facility and has been thriving. He's ready and eager to have his new home, his new humans, and promises so much love and loyal companionship in return. What do you say? Are you Rusty's fresh - and forever - chapter? Can you see this sweetie by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Rusty is a cuddle bug who never tires of belly rubs. He needs to work on losing some weight, but can move when he wants to. Rusty‘s quirk is that he is extremely sensitive when sleeping. The phrase let sleeping dogs lie is especially relevant with Rusty as he will start easily if woken up. Unlike most Beagles, Rusty is not food motivated. What excites this boy is time with his people. Rusty loves everyone he meets! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.
