Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 425. Caramel (DOB : April 2025) came to rescue as a young mom with three newborn puppies! She was a very devoted momma and raised the three pups to become 3 big roly poly beautiful pups. They are now starting their lives with foster homes and families, and Caramel is also ready to find her forever home. She is a young girl, thought to be just over a year and a half, and very smart! She appears to be a German Shepherd/Lab mix. She learned multiple commands in her first two days in foster care, including: sit, toy water, outside, and leave it. She also knows how to knock on the door to go outside. She is crate trained but lets you know if she thinks something is off. Due to her vocal tendencies, no shared walls for this girl. Caramel is incredibly smart - you could teach her anything! She loves walks and behaves incredibly well on a leash. She enjoys free time running around outside, but also loves her people and is happy to just be near them. Caramel is getting comfortable in the car, and while this is a new experience for her, she enjoys the opportunity to check out new places and make new friends. Caramel does well with 11 and 13 year old humans living in her foster home, but her excitement could be overwhelming for some kids and families. Caramel knows when she hears "toy" that she needs to go find one of her own toys and take a break before she will get any more attention. She is fully potty and kennel trained. She is so smart and a dream to train. She can't wait to show you how amazing she is. If you are looking for the perfect mixture of adventure dog, trick master, and snuggle bug, Caramel could be the perfect fit for you! Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
