She is likely under 2 years old and believe to be a Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix. This gorgeous girl weighs 40 lbs. Elvira was rescued as a very pregnant stray, and after raising 8 puppies, she is ready to find her new home. She has youthful energy, a sweet demeanor and is very smart. She is very attentive to her person and simply wants to please. Her medium energy is easy to exhaust with a long walk or good play time spent at the dog park. She can still be a little shy when first meeting new people, but once she gets comfortable, she is relaxed and happy. She wants to be loved more than anything, and will be a loyal, loving companion. She loves taking walks and is learning to be great on a leash. While she can be nervous when approached by dog on walks, she does great at the dog park, and shows no aggression. She has lived well with a small dog in her foster home. She is fully house-broken and when she can’t hold it through the night, she will politely wake you up to go outside. She now loves car rides, especially if it means more adventures. She has learned a lot in her short time in foster, and will definitely continue to blossom in a forever home. She is microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines. Her adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application today! All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
