Description
Dog Breed: English Pointer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). This puppy is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Petey is a joyful, grateful puppy whose constantly wagging tail tells you exactly how happy he is to be loved. This 8.5 month old pup weighs 35 pounds and appears to be a Lab mix with English Pointer looks, bringing together playful puppy energy and a wonderfully calm off switch. Petey loves running and playing in the yard, then happily heading inside to relax on a dog bed or in his open crate. One of his most endearing habits is choosing a toy or chew from the toy box and carefully carrying it to his crate or bed, sometimes gathering a few favorites before settling in to relax. He understands sit and come, is very treat motivated, and truly wants to please, which makes him a great candidate for continued training with someone who enjoys working with their dog. He is fully housetrained, quickly learned to use a dog door, and has never had accidents indoors. Petey sleeps quietly in his crate all night, eats his meals there, and sees it as a comfortable, happy place to rest. He walks nicely on leash without pulling and enjoys trail walks, often alongside another dog. Petey is affectionate, gentle, and social. He does well with dogs of all ages, respects older dogs, loves playing with younger ones, and has been wonderful with adults and children. He enjoys meeting new people, soaking up attention, and even lining up for brushing time. A fenced yard and a home with another dog would be ideal, though he would also thrive with a family or person looking for a loyal, loving companion willing to continue his training. If you think Petey could be the perfect addition to your home, please contact us for more information. Interested in adopting? Breed overview
Overview:
The Lab-Pointer, a charming crossbreed of the Labrador Retriever and Pointer, originated from the desire to combine the best qualities of both parent breeds. Physically, they are typically medium to large dogs, showcasing a athletic build, often with a short, dense coat in various colors like black, yellow, chocolate, or liver, and sometimes the distinctive Pointer markings. Their temperament is generally a delightful blend: intelligent, loyal, and eager to please like the Lab, combined with the Pointer's alert and energetic nature. This makes them highly trainable, though they do require consistent exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom. While affectionate and good with children, their energy levels mean they are best suited for active families with a yard, rather than small apartments. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns inherited from either parent, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions, and certain cancers, making responsible breeding and regular vet check-ups crucial for their well-being.
