Email: ddrtxinfogmail Primary Website: .DDRTX Strudel is an estimated 3 year old red female dachshund. She was found under a park bench during a recent cold snap. Strudel is super sweet and good with humans. She does need a minute to warm up to new people but does warm up quickly. Loves to cuddle and be loved on. She is mostly potty trained as well if she gets to go out every couple of hours. She does tinkle sometimes when she gets over excited to see you. She is a good eater. She has been been doing better with the foster dogs in her home. It was hard at first. She was found with another dog but her foster Mom feels she would do best as an only dog or will need someone with time and patience with her an a dog in the same home. She has really improved but still nee If you are thinking of adopting a pair, she was rescued with Beamer! Love dachshunds and not ready to adopt or circumstances won't permit having a dog? How about being a sponsor or making a donation. Every one of our dachshunds receives excellent medical care along with day to day food, love and housing. Being non-profit, we rely on generous individuals like yourselves to help save these fur babies. Overview:
The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard. Temperamentally, Dachshunds are known for being courageous, curious, and often quite playful, with a surprising amount of energy. While they are intelligent, their independent nature can make training a delightful challenge. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them well-suited for apartment living, and they can be wonderful companions for families, though early socialization is key, especially with children and other pets. Regarding health, their unique body shape predisposes them to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), so careful handling and weight management are crucial.
