Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Foxy is a young, sweet 35–40 lb girl who’s looking for a foster or forever home where she can focus on healing and being loved. She recently suffered a broken ulna from a dog bite, but she’s well on her way to recovery and has been incredibly brave through it all. Right now, Foxy’s biggest needs are rest, calm, and comfort. She’d thrive in a quiet home where she can binge Netflix, soak up gentle belly rubs, and take it easy while her body heals. A cozy couch, soft blankets, and a human who understands the importance of staying mellow would be her dream come true. Despite what she’s been through, Foxy is affectionate, resilient, and full of love. She just needs a safe place to land—whether that’s a temporary foster home or her forever family. If you have room in your heart and home to help Foxy rest, recover, and feel safe again, she’ll repay you with endless gratitude and snuggles. We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogsccrcdogs with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at .ccrcdogs, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
