Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Rocky is an adorable terrier mix boy born around October 18, and he’s ready to find his forever family! He’s a wonderful mix of playful puppy fun and a surprisingly chill attitude for his age (though, of course, all puppies still come with plenty of energy). Rocky loves to play, explore, and engage with the world around him, but he also knows how to settle and enjoy downtime. He does great with other dogs and has been wonderful with kids, making him a lovely fit for a family home. With his sweet personality and easygoing nature, Rocky is the kind of puppy who brings smiles wherever he goes. He’s looking for a family excited to continue his puppy training, share in his adventures, and give him the love and guidance every young pup needs. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
