Dog Breed: Unknown breed (medium coat). ***Fritz will be available for adoption at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ over the Jan 24-25 weekend. An application for his adoption can be submitted at socorescue (no need to register or login). Questions about Fritz and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8gmail; please do not call the rescue.*** SoCo Rescue was contacted by a local groomer who was facing a dilemma. One of her customers had boarded his medium-sized female dog and her seven young puppies during a recent cold snap, which saw our temperatures dip to well below freezing. Knowing that the owner was having difficulties providing even the basics for mom and pups, she convinced him to let her find a new home or rescue to take the dogs. That's when the groomer contacted us. It took a couple of weeks, but we were able to take in both mom and all of her pups. From this litter comes Being slighly different in color than his siblings doesn't take away any of the love and friendliness that Fritz and his siblings all have in common. Fritz loves to interact with people about as much as he loves playing with other pups. Gain a best friend for life by adopting Fritz! By the time Fritz is ready for adoption, he will have received 2 of 3 of his first year puppy vaccinations, scheduled de-wormings and other preventative care. He's also been started on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. His adopter must agree to having him neutered once he reaches 6 months of age and providing verification of such to our rescue. Fritz will require all of his basic training.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
