Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Tucker is a 3-year-old neutered male Pit Bull mix with a heart as big as his smile. This very sweet boy may be a little shy when you first meet him, but once he warms up, his gentle and loving personality truly shines. His most current foster home reports he is good with dogs, great with kids of all ages, cat friendly, and house trained. Tucker is still working on his leash skills, but heâs eager to learn and will thrive with a family willing to help him build confidence and polish his manners. 63 lbs. If you are interested in meeting Tucker, please visit the shelter during our open hours; Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 10a-12p & 2p-4p, Thurs 10a-12p & 2p-5:30p, and Saturday 9a-1p.If you do not own your home, bring consent from the property owner to have a dog on the property. As always, if you have another dog in the home, plan to bring them for a meet before you complete the adoption. Adoption fees: 6m and younger $250, 7m-5y $200, 6y-10y $150, 11y and older $100. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
