He’s doing better and better in his crate—he may whine a little at first, but settles down after just a couple minutes. Potty training is coming along too, and he’s been really good about using his pee pads. He’s already walking pretty nicely on a leash and has quickly figured out the very important household rule… the ice tax. One of his favorite things is curling up next to you on the couch for a good snuggle, complete with the sweetest little snores. Like many pups, he has an incredibly sweet temperament and is pretty chill for a puppy. He loves to play and wrestle with our resident dog but he is also just as content chewing on a bone or toy by himself. Trinket has met other dogs and lots of new people—and he’s done great with everyone. He truly has the best mix of sweet and silly, and his personality keeps getting more fun as he gets comfortable. And we can’t forget to mention his piercing blue eyes that make it almost impossible to say no to him. We can’t wait for his future family to meet this lovable little guy! 2/24/26 Foster Feedback: Trinket is a 3-month-old bundle of puppy charm and cuddles! Hes fitting right in to our bunch! He’s learning all the typical puppy things — potty training, getting used to his crate, and figuring out how this big world works. Like any baby, he’ll need patience and guidance, but what he gives in return is pure sweetness. Trinket loves to explore outside and relax on the couch to snuggle. We have two older resident dogs, one that loves to play and one that has “get off my lawn” energy. Trinket does well respecting boundaries and takes cues well. He is good at entertaining himself with a toy but also enjoys playing with our resident dog. He is such a little hunny! Trinket is incredibly loving, happiest when he’s close to his people, and ready to grow into the best little best friend. He’s got the sweetest little face that just melts your heart. If you’re looking for puppy snuggles and a loyal shadow, Trinket is your guy. 2/6/26 Foster Feedback: Trinket is a sweet, young pit mix puppy with a joyful and inquisitive nature. Puppies at this stage love to play, explore, and then crash for a nap right at your feet. Not housebroken yet, Trinket will need an adopter prepared for the time and effort that comes with puppy training. In return, this little one offers lots of affection and the chance to build a lifelong bond from the start. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: .4luvofdog

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
