Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Star is a loving, affectionate female dog who truly enjoys being close to her people. She does wonderfully with children and is happiest when she can cuddle, relax, and spend time with her humans. Companionship is very important to her, and she thrives when she feels included and secure. Star generally loves people and does well in social settings. She can be initially cautious around some men, but she genuinely enjoys them and often responds very well once she feels comfortable. Calm, patient introductions allow her to warm up, and she sometimes even listens better to men after trust is established. She does very well with other dogs and enjoys short, relaxed walks. Star benefits from a predictable routine and a calm environment where she can decompress and feel safe. Important compatibility note: Star has a strong prey drive and should not be placed in a home with cats or other small animals (such as rodents). She would do best in a cat-free home without small pets. Star would thrive in a loving, calm household with a patient adopter who understands sensitive dogs and can provide structure, affection, and consistency. She is being rehomed due to a household mismatch, not because of behavior issues. My goal is to find her a safe, stable, and loving home where she can feel comfortable and truly thrive. **** Breed: Boxadore **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2192922&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
