Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Bonita is a very sweet, gentle soul who is all about the simple joys in life. Treats? Yes please. Cuddles? Absolutely. Little kisses, belly rubs, and being lovingly petted? Her favorite things. Bonita enjoys walks and does need regular strolls, but she’s not a fan of the freezing weather (can you blame her?). When it’s cold out, she’d much rather be cozy inside, close to her people. She truly thrives being near her person and will happily stick by your side. She’s eager to learn and very easy to train with treats. Bonita already knows sit and she’s currently working on stay and come — she’s a smart girl who wants to please. Peanut butter is a big motivator and might just be her love language. Bonita would do great with a family or a single adopter looking for a loyal, affectionate companion. If you’re searching for a gentle, loving dog who wants nothing more than to be close and share sweet moments, Bonita might be your match. Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
