Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Caitlin Finn (caitlin.finnluckydoganimalrescue) for more information about this pet. Tiny Hound Pup needs a Home! TINY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Tiny Best Guess for Breed: Hound mix Best Guess for Age: 10 weeks as of January 2026 SEX: Male Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 12 lbs as of January 16, 2026 Gets Along With: Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training. Currently Living at: Shelter! Tiny needs a DC area foster or adopter to make his way out of the shelter. Special Adoption Considerations: Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy. Tiny is Looking For: This cutie is one of a litter of three - Tiny, Timothy, and Timrod. They have loved growing up in their puppy pile but now they're ready to put on their big puppy pants and split up to get their own human families! Here's what he is looking for - A family to show him the ropes of what it means to be a responsible doggo. Lots of love, patience, training and - most importantly - long sniffy walks to use that hound nose! What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon! We will update this when they have spent time in a foster home. Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog. Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered. As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than May 4, 2026. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets. Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog! TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
