Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. This is Miss Katie ! She has recently lost her "mom" that she's been with since she was a few weeks old. She's a sweet natured, purebred German Shepherd. She just turned 9 and she's healthy and playful! She loves going on long walks and chasing after her ball ( that's her favorite thing to do!!). She is very gentle and good with other dogs She's never seen a cat but I imagine she'd be fine. She's never shown any aggression to anyone or anything. She lets our dogs eat out of her bowl without an issue. She was very good with lots of different people coming over to care for her mom. She never jumped up on her mom and would bring her the ball and put it in her lap so she could play. She's a sweetheart that deserves a good home that can give her the love and affection that she deserves. She also comes with, and is trained on, the wireless pet safe system . She does great with it and stays within the radius that you put it on. She knows basic commands (treat motivated!), she is spayed and up-to-date on all of her shots. She loves the snow and sunshine too! The only thing she dislikes is fireworks. The loud noise scares her. Katie is located in Redfield, NY. Her foster is willing to bring her to meet potential adopters within a reasonable driving distance. To apply to adopt Katie, please click this link: form.jotform/212690945239059 Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
