Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Hi! I’m Riley, a young adult full of curiosity and smarts. I love exploring every nook and cranny of my surroundings, sniffing out adventures. Although I might be a bit shy at first, give me a little time and I’ll warm up, showing you my goofy and energetic side. I get along well with most dogs and love playing games that challenge my brain. I’m looking for a forever home where I can share all my love and funny antics. Adopting me means gaining a loyal and joyful companion ready to brighten your days! I'd love to find an active family to play with me. I'm very food/treat motivated and crate trained. No kitties for me, please. Riley is 3y 40 lbs. She is spayed, and her adoption includes a microchip with lifetime registration, 4dx SNAP heartworm test, DHLPP, Bordetella, and rabies and parasite control. Also included in the adoption are 30 days of Pet First Pet Insurance, a new lead and collar, and an adoption kit. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
