Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). KENNEL ID #18804 Mallory is a sweet, gentle boy who’s still learning that people can be trusted. Like her brothers Mason, and Monty she can be a bit withdrawn at first, but once Mallory realizes you’re kind and patient, her true personality begins to emerge. She warms up with quiet reassurance and does best with someone who will let her move at her own pace. Mallory is currently in a foster home in Tennessee and does well with other dogs. She is still working on training and would benefit from a consistent routine and positive reinforcement. Mallory is an absolute love. At her core, Mallort just wants what every dog deserves—a safe place, a gentle hand, and someone who will love her. If you’re looking to make a real difference in a dog’s life, Mallory is waiting for her chance. Mallory is hanging out with her rescuer and foster mom, Carol, in Tennessee. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
