Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. Prosecco is the perfect name for this little girl who sparkles whenever she meets a new lap in which she can snuggle. Prosecco is a 4.5-month-old shepherd mix sweetheart with a black coat, tan paws and a desire for a new home and family. Prosecco currently weighs 22 pounds, and it is estimated she will be a medium sized dog (31-60 pounds) when she is fully grown. Although Prosecco gets along well with dogs and cats and children, she is happiest when she can stay indoors enjoying treats and human companionship. Prosecco is working at her house and leash training. Rescue dogs should be expected to have accidents as they become accustomed to a new home, family and routines. She is extremely treat motivated so keeping a few dog-friendly yummies on hand will make training a snap. If crate training is anticipated, Prosecco requires a crate that lets her lie down, stand up and turn around. Crates should never be used for punishment, should be warm and cozy. Prosecco should be able to go in and out as she desires during training. It is cold outside so Prosecco is more than happy to stay inside where she can enjoy the warmth and love she deserves with friends and family to keep her company. * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Prosecco is $500. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
