Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Hound / Mixed (short coat). Will is the sweetest hound mix you’ll ever meet. He came to us underweight with a neck injury, but despite his rough start, Will is full of love and resilience. He has gained weight, his neck has healed nicely, and he is ready to find a home of his own. Will will need to be walked using a harness. One of Will’s favorite things is leaning his whole body into you during pets — he’s well on his way to becoming a world-class snuggler. He loves spending time with people and enjoys attention, affection, and gentle companionship. Will enjoys playing with other dogs, though his playful enthusiasm can be a bit much for some, so he may do best with dog friends who enjoy active play. He is learning his manners and is eager to please. Will already knows how to sit politely for a treat and loves showing off how much he’s learning. Will was born on 1/28/25. He is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and ready to meet his forever family. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
