Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Hi, I’m Dion I’m a 6-month-old Shepherd mix, about 20 pounds right now, and I’ll likely be around 35 pounds full-grown. I’ve got a gentle heart and a whole lot of love once I know I can trust you. I’m a shy guy and not the biggest fan of meeting new people at first. I do tend to warm up to women faster than men, but once you earn my trust… I’m yours for life. I’m a loyal Velcro dog who will stick to your hip like glue and be your very best friend. I love cuddles, playing with toys, and I get along great with other dogs. I’m fully potty trained and fully kennel trained—I go right in for a treat like a good boy and do great in my kennel when needed. My foster mom also leaves me out all the time, and I do amazing. I’m very food motivated, which makes training even easier. I’d do best in a home with kids 12 and up who understand how to give me space and let me warm up at my own pace. If you’re patient, kind, and willing to let me come to you, I promise I’ll give you my whole heart. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who just needs a little time to shine, I might be your perfect match Apply at: bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
