Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (short coat). ***CoCo is currently located at our rescue in Georgia. She is scheduled to attend our adoption event at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ over the Jan 31st weekend. An application for her adoption should be submitted at socorescue (no need to register or login). Questions about CoCo and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8gmail; please do not call the rescue.*** CoCo came into our rescue as an owner surrender. Her former owners recently moved to Georgia and was not permitted to have her at their new place of residence. CoCo is full of personality and it's all good. She thrives on human contact, loves playing with other pups and has proven to be very smart and a quick learner. Her former owner said CoCo had already begun her house training and was doing very well, but she'll need additional training to fully master the trait. CoCo has began receiving her first year puppy vaccinations, de-wormings and other required vet care. Please consult with your vet concerning future vaccinations and such. Her adopter must agree to having CoCo spay once she reaches 6 month old and provide verification of such to our rescue. CoCo will require all of her basic training.

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
