Description
Dog Breed: Dachshund / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $595 + MN tax. Bagel is a 1y., 38-lb pocket-sized cutie with a delightful mix of Chihuahua, Dachshund , Labrador, AND Pitbull! He is the doggy definition of an Everything Bagel. He starts out a little shy, but give him a moment and you’ll discover a loyal, snuggly sidekick who loves his people with his whole heart. Bagel is one of our long-term fosters and deserves to find his forever. *Click through his photos for DNA results!* Personality: Shy at first, but when he opens up he's playful, sweet, eager to learn, and full of teenage puppy zest! Bagel is an active boy who loves adventures and is happiest when he’s exploring with his humans. Best Home: Bagel would thrive with another confident dog to help show him the world isn’t so scary. A secure yard is a bonus—he’s a certified zoomie enthusiast! Favorite Things: Tug toys, stuffies, balls, chew bones, sticks, playful dog siblings, and ALL the goofy games. If it’s fun, Bagel is all in. Foster Notes: Bagel currently lives with multiple dogs and lots of humans. He’s still finding his confidence with new people (expect some “hello” barks), but he’s learning quickly and blossoming beautifully. Walks? Yes! Park trips? Absolutely! Helping the humans socialize? He’s working on it. Special Considerations: Bagel is a sensitive pup who needs slow, positive introductions. Patience and consistency are key—he bonds deeply once he feels safe. Ready to win over this adorable underdog and be part of his glow-up? Bagel can’t wait to meet his forever family! Bagel is currently being fostered in S. Minneapolis. Breed overview
Overview:
The Dachsador, a charming crossbreed of the Dachshund and Labrador Retriever, originated from the desire to blend the playful spirit of the Lab with the distinctive build of the Dachshund. Physically, they are incredibly diverse, often displaying the longer body of the Dachshund with the more robust head and sometimes webbed feet of the Labrador. Their coat can vary widely in color and texture, from short and smooth to longer and denser. Temperamentally, Dachsadors are generally friendly, intelligent, and affectionate, making them wonderful companions. They can be good with families, though early socialization is key, and their energy levels mean they thrive with regular exercise. While adaptable, their size can range from medium to large, influencing their suitability for apartment living; a home with a yard is often preferred. Potential health concerns can include those common to their parent breeds, such as back problems (Dachshund) and hip/elbow dysplasia or eye conditions (Labrador), necessitating responsible breeding and veterinary care.
