Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Border Collie / Mixed (medium coat). Our Animal Control Officer Gooding was driving to a call back in mid-January when when there was a disruption in traffic on Hwy 9: there was a black & white dog criss-crossing the winding and dangerous road! He pulled over and simply called & encouraged the dog and, thankfully, the young dog came right to him. Surprisingly, no one came to claim this handsome, kinda squishy, mixed-breed guy, so we named him Vinny, got him neutered and vaccinated, and now he's available for adoption. Vinny is a big, goofy pup who's always eager for attention and is a bit of a busy-body â he's good for petting and handling, but he doesn't sit still much - there's just so much to DO!! Vinny is ball and toy-oriented, likes to rough-house, and will do best with some good positive reinforcement manners training. He's eager in play with other dogs - he may be `too much` for many and may get a good share of corrections from other dogs as he learns and matures, but he might be a great playmate for another active, rough & tumble dog after a meet ân greet at the Shelter. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Because he's been here for a little while, Vinny's adoption fee has been sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation's Leave No One Behind fund- a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards animals that have been waiting a little bit longer for the right adopters to come along. Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
